AFTERCARE FOR LASH ENHANCEMENT AND EYELINER
DO NOT TOUCH THE TREATED/UNHEALED AREA WITH UN-SANITIZED HANDS/FINGERS, TOWELS, OR ANY OTHER UN-SANITIZED ITEM! DOING SO CAN AND WILL CAUSE INFECTION.
Your permanent cosmetic procedure was performed using a sterile single-use needle and high quality pigments. The end result of your procedure depends greatly on following this aftercare protocol. If you allow your eyeliner to dry out during the first few days you stand the chance of losing all or much of your eyeliner color. Please follow the instructions below unless otherwise instructed by a physician.
Don’t be alarmed at how dark the color looks right after the application. The final result will be lighter than it first appears. During the first two weeks some pigment may drop out or appear like it is flaking off, you will lose about 20% to 40% of your color. This is normal and can be filled in on the follow up touch up visit in about 4 to 6 weeks. Everyone’s skin is different and some people may lose more color then others. This is normal and means that the color will need to be adjusted at the touch up appointment.
Eyes may be swollen and tender, this can last for a few days. If needed, you can apply 10 minute ice packs as needed to help with swelling, however, be very careful not to freeze your skin. DO NOT use ice packs after the 2nd day. DO wear sunglasses when in the sun in order to protect the fresh color for the first two weeks
For the next 7 – 10 days:
It’s very important to keep your eyeliner moist at all times with A&D ointment. It is best to apply the ointment approximately 3-4 times a day. Always use a fresh Q-tip with each application of ointment; this will reduce the risk of a secondary infection. Be sure to put ointment on right before you go to bed at night, first thing when you wake up in the morning after cleaning, and one to two more times during the day. Itching is also common but do not rub your eyes or pick at the eyeliner, if you notice a little lifting of color, let it fall off naturally (DO NOT pick at dry flakes).
AVOID during healing process (approximately 2 weeks):
Contact lenses for 72 hours and if possible, use a new pair.
Chlorine pools or any bodies of water.
Soaps, facial cleansers, washcloths, eye creams on pigmented area.
All eye makeup (mascara, liner, shadow, etc.). Once healed, begin with Brand New makeup.
Jacuzzi, sauna, tanning bed, spray tan.
Retin-A on pigmented area (Never-Ever use Retin-A on pigmented area).
Hot, long, steamy showers, direct water from shower head (shower with your back to shower head).
Eyelash curlers, dying, or perming of the lashes.
Terry towels on pigmented area.
Gardening or sports activities where dirt may get in the eyes.
ALL old makeup. Makeup used on face must be Brand New.
Picking, touching, rubbing, or scratching the area.
*If you experience any redness or prolonged swelling in or around the eye, matting or drainage, pain that becomes increasingly worse, difficulty keeping your eyes open, or sensitivity to light, please call your physician immediately.
